Choom Gallery, in collaboration with Dastras, hosted the “Book and Artist” exhibition from April 27 to 31 in Bandar Anzali, showcasing over 90 photobooks and artist books from Dastras Photobook Platform and BAZAR. As part of the Choom Outside project, this event aimed to introduce the local art community to the book as an artistic medium, which remains underrepresented in Iran. Alongside the exhibition, several engaging programs enriched the experience, including an artbook-making workshop by Hedieh Ahmadi and Amirhossein Kardouni, discussions on contemporary books led by Amin Yousefi and Amirparsa BaniAmeriyan, and a live talk with MohammadReza Mirzaei and Gordon Stillman about their indie publishing house, BlueTiger Books. The event also featured a screening of How to Make a Book with Steidl, offering insight into the renowned photobook publisher Gerhard Steidl.
